Mercer Island Home Cable Deck

The client wanted a very specific look: thin posts with a flat top cap to minimize the profile of the railings. We found some 1”x2” extrusions, but the concern we had was bending on the end and corner posts where the cables were tightened. For the corner posts, we used a welded corner at the mid point of the posts, and on the ends we added an interior stiffener.

The railing system itself was plenty strong, and the look was really cool. We’ve actually started using this method on other cable rail jobs since!
