This was a new custom home built by a General Contractor we work with on a regular basis, and one in which the homeowners wanted to be very involved in the design process. We had a lot of collaboration done at the start of our involvement with the project, particularly on the design of the exterior decks and interior landing.
The homeowners wanted to incorporate into our Modern
Horizontal railing system a pre-built panel that had a specific design cut into it. I’ll be honest, I wasn’t too keen on the idea, but they had a clear vision and stuck to it. I’m happy to say I was wrong; it ended up being one of my favorite designs we’ve built in a long time.
We fabricated and installed this project in three phases: exterior decks, front entry stairs and back area patio, and interior stairs and landings. The interior stairs and landings were planned three months in advance, since we had a very narrow window of two weeks for fabrication and powder-coat, and one day of install before the hardwood floors were installed. It was a tight schedule, but we had great communication between us and the General Contractor, and the install went perfectly.
With multiple phases, multiple designs in various areas, and tight timelines, clear communication was the key to this project.
