Our aluminum railings utilize a mechanical connection for the critical areas of post/base plate connections. (Recent testing indicates that posts with welded base plates fail at loads an average of 35% lower than identical posts with mechanical base plate connections. For these reasons, welded post base connections are not generally recommended. These test results correspond with data published by the CSA and ANSI certification bodies.)
